Introduction

In a rapidly evolving world of opportunities and evolving geopolitical scenarios, India presents itself as an emerging power with its strengths, contradictions, legacy and potential. In a world is enjoined by technology, travel and trade but decided by war, politics, history and economics, India has a prominent role to play. In this context, Mumbai, the nation’s prominent seaport and finance capital, is India’s international and most cosmopolitan face.

Literature festivals bring together stimulating ideas, conversations, and interactions around several themes. We believe that the theme of ‘The Idea of India and the World’ requires a dedicated platform that showcases exchange of ideas, works and discussions on books and literary work that cover the above theme.

There is a need to create intellectual capital around related subjects of history, geography, policy, maritime, space, geopolitics, economics, military and connectivity. A forward-looking literature festival that embraces thoughts from across the world is the essence of the hour.

We present to you, ‘Max City VoW Literature Festival.’

Aim

The Max City VoW literature festival seeks to provide a ready platform to contribute towards a greater public understanding of the above issues. It will play an essential role in providing a forum for exchange of views among experts from various fields, including from the military services.

It aims to serve as a key platform for prospective authors to submit their works and for publishers to evaluate new voices. It will seek to provide forums for exchange of ideas between authors, experts, scholars, businesses and other stakeholders.

Theme

The Max City VoW is a dedicated literature festival on ‘Geopolitics, Military and Social Sciences’ that explores and debates India’s position in the world through the medium of literature. The literary festival is an endeavour to encourage and unearth potential works in these areas, besides adding to the readership.

Venue

National Gallery of Modern Art (NGMA) and KitabKhana Mumbai 01-02 Mar 2025

Why is Max City VoW Litfest a different Idea?

The litfest will be the only one of its kind in India which addresses the subjects mentioned. Given the rise in the interest around these areas and the relevance to an ever changing world, the festival would seek to get views, counter views and new thoughts in these areas.

This litfest provides a platform away from Delhi for discussion on politics, policy, wars and history in Mumbai. As a trading city, film capital and a literature hub, the city is uniquely placed at the interstices of policy, history and economics.

The Max City VoW litfest plans to work closely with FLAME, Indian Navy, which is an unprecedented initiative, and which will lend greater credibility and also enable inclusion of senior voices from the Navy and a stellar educational institution such as FLAME. The litfest also brings together scholars from various fields.
